“Among other things, you’ll find that you’re not the first person who was ever confused and frightened and even sickened by human behaviour. You’re by no means alone on that score, you’ll be excited and stimulated to know. Many, many men have been just as troubled morally and spiritually as you are right now. Happily, some of them kept records of their troubles. You’ll learn from them - if you want to. Just as someday, if you have something to offer, someone will learn something from you. It’s a beautiful reciprocal arrangement. And it isn’t education. It’s history. It’s poetry.”—J. D. Salinger, Catcher In The Rye (via aestheticintrovert)
“She grew more and more silent about what really mattered. She curled inside herself like one of those black chimney brushes, the little shellfish you see on the beach, and you touch them, and they go inside and don’t come out.”—Unknown (via felicefawn)
Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we overlook the many blessings God presents us. Take time to appreciate the changing leaves, the sky at sunset, the innocence of a child’s laughter, the smile of a stranger. This world that God gave us is STILL beautiful if we would just allow Him to show us.
I thought of picking up my phone to call you thinking that if I heard your voice maybe my heart wouldn’t feel so sick but I’m afraid all I will hear is that your voice has changed that it holds no warmth for me now.
“Closing your eyes isn’t going to change anything. Nothing’s going to disappear just because you can’t see what’s going on. In fact, things will even be worse the next time you open your eyes. That’s the kind of world we live in. Keep your eyes wide open. Only a coward closes his eyes. Closing your eyes and plugging up your ears won’t make time stand still.”—Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore (via hopefisch)
“The greatest example of humility is found in the manliest man: Jesus. A man who laid down his rights and made Himself nothing in order to be an example of undying love and affection to the bride who won His heart. Real men seek to do the same.”—Debra Fileta - http://bit.ly/1ecz7lg (via definedbyyou)
